Classes
A catamaran is a boat with 2 hulls.
Some manufacturers supply a lead keel to provide the catamaran from

Most modern catamarans are more wide and therefore more stable.
The hulls are connected with 2 or more beams.
The mast stands in the middle on one of the beams.
The wider the boat the higher the stability and therefore the boat can sail faster.
Most old RC catamarans are built as a down scaled copy of an existing open
catamaran.
The result is a less stable ship which will not turn over easily if the boat is sailed correctly.
These modern boats can sail on one hull.
