What is a hydrofoil

A hydrofoil is a boat with 3 or more foils under the water line
As soon as the boat gains speed the hulls will be lifted out of the water.
The resistance of the boat through the water will drop and the result is a higher top speed.
As long as the waves are not too high the boat will vertually "fly" over the water.
Compaired with other multi hulls the speed of the boat can be dubble or tripple.

There are 2 types of foils.

- fixated foils.
- self adjustable foils

Fixated foil boats will get higher out of the water as the speed rises.
Boats with self adjustable foils will maintain the same height once out of the water.

This is done by some small flaps at the rear of the foil.

Most hydrofoils are catamarans or trimarans.

The only RC hydrofoil in production is the F3.

Most hydrofoils are self modified catamarans and trimarans.
