WHAT IS A TRIMARAN

A Trimaran is a boat with 3 hulls.

The hulls are connected with 2 or more beams.
The mast stands on the hull in the middle.
The wider the boat the higher the stability and therefore the boat can sail faster.

Most RC trimarans are not built as a down scaled copy of an existing open trimaran.

The result is a stable ship which will not turn over easily if the boat is sailed correctly.

2 types of trimarans are built.

- as a boat with 3 equal hulls
- as a boat with 2 smaller outriggers.

The boats with 3 equal hulls are more stable because most of them can sail on one hull.
The boats with 2 smaller outriggers can't sail on one hull. The hull will submerge and the boat will turn over.
